Political & Social Leaders Have Failed Ghana.

Ghana, previously called Gold Coast, is the 10th largest producer of gold. The country is also rich in diamonds, bauxite, petroleum, and, recently, Lithium. However, due to political and traditional leaders' mismanagement of these and other natural resources, the citizenry rarely benefits from these exports.

Approximately 13.3% of Ghana's 32 million citizens live on $1.90 daily.

Lack of employment opportunities has led many into illegal and unregulated prospecting, and mining of gold, termed "Galamsey."

Past and present governments have not been able to provide an alternative means of employment to galamseyers (illegal miners.) As a result, galamsey has destroyed water bodies, forests, and land.

Today, Ghana faces an existential threat due to illegal mining destroying water bodies.

Ghana Water Company, the official government agency mandated to supply clean drinking water to households, is not up to the task. They have stated officially that due to galamsey and turbidity (sediment and cloudiness) levels of streams and rivers, they can't consistently supply potable water to the populace.

Ghanaian Diaspora Action

A group of Ghanaians in the US diaspora have joined forces with Ghanaians in Ghana and are advocating to #FixTheCountry. The group, through their donations, decided to provide drinkable water to affected communities through boreholes projects.

Approximately 4 million Ghanaians are in the diaspora. The majority sends remittance to family and friends back home. In 2022, Ghana recorded $4.7 billion in remittances from its citizenry abroad, which is more than what the current government is seeking from the IMF as a relief to stabilize the economy.

500 Boreholes In Next 5 Years

We believe that if all Ghanaians in the diaspora band together, we can impact and save our people back home. Water is life, so the ideal place to start is with the Borehole Project. We aim to dig 500 boreholes in the next five years.

Project Breakdown - Timelines

1 borehole cost $2,500

We built our first borehole in Mpaasaaso in Ashanti Region. The project cost approximately $2500.

selection of villages

Through our efforts, we aim to raise enough to bring drinkable water to all 16 regions in Ghana. Villages will be selected at random. Though we hope donors will be a part of this selection processes

Project execution dates

We estimate that each borehole will cost approximately $2500. We will collect funds on a rolling basis and start a new project once we have raised $2,500. Once a project begins, it takes approximately two weeks to complete.
